This is Consumption
In writing as in economics there are producer and consumer roles. When you write about what you know you are acting as a consumer. You are consuming the reader’s time and mental energy. People don’t care what you know — people want to decide how your information helps them. When you leave out important information you are a producer — necessarily consuming less by writing less. Providing the opportunity for the reader to produce knowledge he then claims as his personal property.
